Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

Pictured Above: Nice
This région in the South of France, bordered by Italy, Monaco, and the Mediterranean Sea is composed of the former French province of Provence and the French Riviera coastline known as the Côte d'Azur. A mecca of art, nature, and history, Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur is both coastal and mountainous, with colorful landscapes that inspired Van Gogh, Picasso, and Cezanne. Follow the path Picasso took as he lived, journeyed, and was inspired here or visit the Cannes Film festival to view art on film. The Provence area is where the Greeks planted the first vineyards in France, making it is no surprise that wine is an important addition to every meal. Situated on the Mediterranean an hour from ski slopes and a few kilometers from Cannes and Monaco, Nice and the Côte d'Azur live up to the fame. With an average year round temperature of 54° Fahrenheit, Nice is beautiful in every season, making it a popular place to visit, beginning centuries ago with European high society coveting the area.
