Home to the founders of Québec, this région, located on the Atlantic coast, offers diverse cities, natural beauty, and historic sites. With remnants of historical architecture dating back to the roman era disbursed throughout the city, Poitiers, the régional capital, has 80 registered and protected historic monuments. La Rochelle, with beaches, greenery, chalk cliffs, and fortifications, is an ideal vacation spot, making it the third most visited city in France. Ile de Re, located near La Rochelle, is also a perfect vacation destination, offering numerous beaches and preserved open spaces. Finally, the city of Cognac is home to one of the world's best-known types of brandy, which must be made in certain areas around the town in order to be granted its name. Visit one of the many vineyards to experience Cognac from vine to glass.
