Pictured Above: Place Stanislas in Nancy
In the North of France lies the only French région to have borders with three other countries: Belgium, Germany, and Luxembourg. Lorraine has two major and equally important cities, Metz and Nancy. A town of art and history, you can step into the past strolling down the streets of Metz, with its’ beautiful gardens, roman baths, and medieval Cathedrals. Before you leave, be sure to grab your Opera glasses for a show in France’s oldest Opera house still in activity, the Opera-Théâtre. As you walk through the newly created pedestrian zone in Place Stanislas in Nancy, make sure to view the town hall and grand theatre while taking in everything the most beautiful royal square in Europe has to offer. Also while in Nancy, visit the Musée de l’Ecole de Nancy (“Nancy School Museum”) and discover why Nancy was a major influence in the Art Nouveau movement with Emile Gallé as its leading figure.
