Paris, the city of love, is also a city of art, architecture, and history. Composed mostly of the Paris metropolitan région, Ile-de-France is home to some of France’s most beautiful and recognizable architecture, museums, and cathedrals, including the Louvre and Orsay Museums, the Versailles and Fontainebleau Chateaux, and Saint-Denis Basilica. Stroll down the Champs Elysées for great shopping and to visit the Arc de Triomphe, or take an elevator to the top of the Eiffel Tower for the most breathtaking view of Paris. Tour some of the most beautiful cathedrals in the world, including Notre Dame and la Sacre Cœur in Montmartre. If you’re a war historian, Les Invalides is home to the largest museum of military history in the world, as well as tombs of some of France’s war heroes, most notably, Napoleon Bonaparte, which lies under the Dome des Invalides. Whether it’s your first or one of many visits, with all the significant monuments, beautiful art, rich history, and guaranteed romance, Paris never disappoints.
